Lancaster Troop 39 is one of the older Boy Scout Troops of
the Antelope Valley District which is part of the Western Los Angeles
County Council. Its charter is more than 32 years old with the First
Baptist Church of Lancaster as the current Charter Organization.
Presently there are about 28 active Scouts that meet at the Desert
Christian School at 44648 15th Street W., in Lancaster, every Tuesday
at 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The second Tuesday of every month the parents join
us for a parent meeting.
The Troop is divided into patrols of 5 to 8 Scouts.
The Senior Scouts are the experienced, older and trained Scouts of the
Troop. The Patrols should all have a Patrol Leader, Asst. Patrol
Leader, Troop Guide, Instructor and Patrol Dad to help them out. In the
Patrol meetings at the church where we usually meet or at one of the
scout's homes, the Tuesday after the monthly outing, the Patrol
Leaders plan for the next month's camp out and the next three Troop
meetings. The Scout Leadership consists of the Patrol Leaders Council
(the Patrol leaders) and the Senior Scouts.
As you can see Troop 39 is a Scout run troop. The Scouts
plan and execute their own program. With the help of several Scouters,
and parent participation, the Scouts are well supported.
Troop 39 has a year round outings program. Every month
there is an overnight outing planned. This rigorous outing program
helps to keep all the Scouts active in the Troop, plus provides the
Scouts with a opportunity for fun, new skills and advancement.
